Football

Football has a long tradition in Vír, which dates back to the 1930s. However, it was not until 1950 that the official "Na Bahnech" football field was built. It is where all local football competitions are still played today. The Vír football club has existed since 1964 as one of the parts of the TJ Jiskra Vír association. During this time, the local A team participated in various competitions from the "forest" IV. classes to the district championship. Today, "A" squad (led by coach Petr Šenkýř) occupies the upper floors of table in the III. class of district football competition.

The Vír football club "Jiskra" is one of the few village clubs that strives to maintain its youth football teams. From an early age, children have been brought up in football under the strict supervision of the local football heartmaker Jaroslav Skoumal. Vír can be proud of this in its student tournament, always held at the end of June, which is one of the oldest student tournaments in the Vysočina region. In the 2018/19 season, the junior teenagers even made history when they peeked into the I.A regional football league under the leadership of Jan Preisler. However, the remaining teenagers stay definitely not behind and continue to train together with adults.

Negotiations are currently underway with the Vír municipality to obtain a subsidy for the complete reconstruction of the football facility. In addition, Vír football players have the opportunity to train on the newly reconstructed multi-purpose field in "Ledničky" and regularly undergo winter training in the municipal culture house.
